Photography Competition cum Exhibition from 22nd – 31st May, 2013

Dear Supporters,

Greetings from WWF-India, Maharashtra State Office

On the occasion of The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) i.e. 22nd May, 2013 WWF-India, Maharashtra State Office will be organizing Photography Competition cum Exhibition  from 22nd – 31st May, 2013. We are inviting the entries from Nature Photographers (Professional as well as Amateurs) for the same. The Theme – ‘Water Cooperation’ (We are looking for photographs such as fresh & marine water biodiversity, water resources, water reservoirs, use of water in various fields, traditional & innovative water storage systems of India,  sharing of waters, water wastage etc.). This is open and free for all.

Rules & Regulations:

1.      Photograph Dimensions: 8”x10”; 10” x 12” and 10” x 15”
2.       Last date for acceptance of entries is 14th May before 4.00 pm. (Saturday-Sunday Off)
3.       Date of Exhibition -  22nd – 31st May, 2013. (Except Saturday-Sunday)
4.      Time of exhibition – 10.30 am to 6.00 pm.
5.       Venue – WWF-India Maharashtra State Office, C/o Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., Near Gundecha Gardens (towers), Opp. Shaman, Mumbai: 400012. Tel: 24701361 / 24700030
6.       Maximum 5 photographs (prints) to be submitted per participant. Every print should have the name, address, contact number / email id of the contestant.
7.       Images from India only should be submitted.
8.       Each photograph should be correctly identified (incase of species), have a short but suitable caption and a mention of the place where the photograph was taken and the specification of the camera, film and exposures (if possible).
9.       Digitally altered photographs or those shot in captivity, gardens, zoos, aquarium and any other artificial environment (except for man made water reservoirs & storage systems) will not be considered or accepted.
10.   PLEASE NOTE the prints will be used by WWF-India, Maharashtra State Office for non-commercial awareness purpose if they are not personally collected within 15 days after the exhibition gets over. WWF –India will not post or courier any photographs. The unclaimed Photographs will be used for noncommercial educational purpose only.
11.   The selected photographs will be displayed during the exhibition from 22nd – 31st May, 2013.
12.   There is no entry fee for the participants, however the decision to display or not to display any particular photograph will strictly remain at the discretion of WWF-India.
13.   The photographs should reach to WWF-India, Maharashtra State office on or before 14th May, 2013. Submissions after that will not be entertained.

Program for Western Railway Welfare Centre and World wetland day, 2013

WWF-India, Maharashtra State Office Conducted a Half Day Programme at Matunga Railway Colony Welfare Centre. About 40 children of this colony participated in the programme. Sessions conducted - A nature trail, Nature games and Poster Exhibition. The programme was conducted in association with Western Railway Employees Welfare Union.

July 28, Sunday - Tungareshwar WildLife Sanctuary

Charges : Free for donor and Rs. 50/- for other nature enthusiast.
Meeting point : Entry gate of Tungareshwar WLS at 8.30am sharp. We will be walking on a slightly hilly terrain.

Meeting point: Neral station (E), Ticket window at 08.30 am sharp. We will be walking on a slightly hilly terrain.

Charges: Rs.850/- for donors and Rs.1250/- for other nature lovers. This includes travel from Dadar station to Dadar station,a Breakfast, Lunch (All veg.). We will be walking on a slightly hilly terrain. Focus will be on biodiversity. We may not reach the fort.
Meeting point: Bus will leave at 06.30 am from Dadar T.T. Corner of Swami Narayan Temple.
Registration: Before 27th September, 2013.

November 24, Sunday - Maharashtra Nature Park Society(MNPS), Dharavi

Charges: Free for a donor and Rs. 50/- for other nature enthusiast.
Meeting point: Entry gate of MNPS 8.30 am sharp. However the entry fee of Rs.5/- for MNPS will be paid by each participant irrespective of WWF-India memebrship.
Registration: Before 21st November, 2013.

December 8, Sunday - Haffkine Institute, Parel.

Charges: Free for a donor and Rs. 50/- for other nature enthusiast.
Meeting point: Entry gate of the Haffkine Institute at 08.30 am sharp.

Volunteering Opportunities

This is basically to create environment awareness among the citizens. Interested individuals should register with WWF-India MSO one week before the programme.

Rules & Regulations to be followed at WWF Camps & Trails

1.      Nature Camps conducted by WWF-India are educational camps and not luxury camps or picnics.
2.      Basic necessities will be provided like simple and wholesome vegetarian food (tea/coffee, breakfast, lunch, and dinner), clean accommodation and toilets. During visits to remote forest areas participants will have to use open air toilets and rough it out.
3.      Do not carry any music system or walkman, etc. in forest area.
4.      Do not carry any inflammables and do not light fire in the forest area.
5.      Do not tease any wild animal or destroy habitat of the Park or Sanctuary.
6.      During multiple accommodation facilities at the camp site participants must adjust to them and no separate accommodation will be provided. The group leader will decide the room allotments and the participants in the room, no alterations will be done.
7.      Participants have to adhere to the given itinerary and no alterations by the participants will be entertained.
8.      Detailed program of the following day will be briefed one day in advance.
9.      Please carry your personal medicines and toiletries and clothes according to climate and season (do not wear red, white or fluorescent colours).
10.  Smoking and consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited.
11.  Participants must follow strict discipline and no misbehavior will be tolerated any participant found doing so may be requested to leave the camp.
12.  Participants should take care of their belongings & valuable articles & will be solely responsible for them.
13.  No portage will be provided.
14.  Mineral water will not be provided unless mentioned in the itinerary.
15.  WWF-India will not be responsible for any mishap or catastrophe.
16.  Participants should strictly follow the instructions of the group leader.
17.  Wear comfortable walking shoes and never wear any high heels foot wear.
18.  Please carry Water bottle, Cap, Torch, Mosquito repellents, Personal medicines and toiletries.
19.  Do not wear any kind of perfume or deodorant while in the sanctuary.
20.  If a camp is canceled by WWF-India for reasons such as lack of enough participation, unless any expense is incurred, a 100 % refund will be given. Participants who cancel their seats prior to cancellation of the camp will not get a complete refund. Their cancellation will follow our regular cancellation procedures.
